MKMMA 2016 week 11 – Santa Claus is Coming to Town

The last few weeks have been busy but even more as the challenges come the more strong my resolve becomes. While we have not been doing the readings etc. this year the profound effect of our last year doing them has made effects that still reverberate through our lives.

We had played with the idea of doing a Santa business and I had always like the idea in concept. I was amazed at how difficult it was to find someone to bleach a beard though. I had tried 4 years ago and salons I asked wouldn’t do it. I got referred to a beauty place in town, and attempted it with miserable results and a bright reddish orange beard. This year however pieces fell into place 24mp camera on Black Friday sale, ideas on how to make it happen, lots of work in that too, but still I was not getting anyone who would bleach my beard. I reached out to people I was told would do it, and a few more no’s.

I joined a FB group to start messaging people who do this for a living and asked in a post for recommendations. I got a response finally from one who really has a passion for what she does, and like me is experimental let’s see what we can do attitude. I was amazed as I set the appointment, and a little worried it might not turn out white enough. But we could actually see it whitening as she did her magic. She had never worked with a beard but she was willing to try and she did wonderful. What’s more I really felt she cut herself short only $30 and she stuck to it. I paid her more and plan to return to get the rest whitened as we plan to do some pictures and whatever else I can do this year. I am Santa, and I want to spread as much of it around as I can. If you are in the Bakersfield area and need a Santa let me know because I am ready to serve for your imagination. I am looking to try and cover at least the costs this year but I also want to get some experience so reach out to me if you need a Santa and don’t have one.

Why me? Well because I have a passion to do this. For a while I felt like Peter Gibbons from The movie Office Space not really sure what I wanted, or as they posed the question “What would you do if you had a million dollars?” The point of the question of course is to find what it is you would do if you could do anything what would you want to do. His response “I never had an answer. I guess that’s why I’m working at Initech” just doing the normal day to day routine. This is something that I enjoy, people enjoy doing, and kids want to be good around you, or maybe cry because you are a stranger (hopefully I won’t have much of that lol). But really now that I know I can get a near white I plan to do this again next year and for many years to come. Being Santa this magical character that does all these amazing things to me is something we should all strive to be. By portraying him I am practicing being a better person, and isn’t that what it is all truly about being better than we used to be and not comparing ourselves to others, to do what we can to make the world a better place and brighten the glow just a bit for the rest of humanity? That’s why I want to be Santa, and now I can ask who is your Santa?

Everyone needs a good role model to look up to and who inspires them, and maybe even a mentor to guide them along the way. So glad that the very essence of the MKMMA is in perfect harmony with who Santa is. To great everyone with love in your heart, to be in the present moment, and to appreciate everything just as it is. He is a truly remarkable character one I humble hope I represent if even a small fraction of his overwhelming presence and personality.

Ho Ho Ho! Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas!
